PROJECT: Akaroa Museum Store
CUSTOMER: Christchurch City Council
PARTNER: Wilkie & Bruce Architects
This new building, a collection store linked to the Akaroa Museum, was a complex project. The museum is located in the residential conservation zone of historic Akaroa and the design challenge was to achieve a balance between blending the exterior with its surroundings, and requiring an interior that was functional, spacious and modern. The resulting building fits beautifully within the nineteenth century streetscape. Corbel received generous praise from the client, Christchurch City Council, and had a special mention in the opening ceremony. The Council has gone on to recommend us to various other clients following the completion of this project.
