PROJECT: Life Church
CUSTOMER: Ministry of Education
PARTNER: Opus International Consultants/Stephenson and Turner Architects
Corbel Construction carefully planned the Life Church project to ensure new facilities, including a large catering kitchen, youth centre, amenities and double-storied office administration centre were available for a major event to be held at Life Church.
The Church held an event that was to be run over three days and included 900 people from various regions around New Zealand. During the build, the fully functional conference centre and church remained in use as Corbel planned noise, dust, vehicle movements and other interruptions around the operations of the Church.
This level of planning ensured crucial milestones could be resourced. Good working relationships with the client and the architect were integral to the success of the build and all parties shared the same goal.
The build itself comprised of a concrete floor, precast and steel. The youth centre was designed under new earthquake design rules. Seven different types of cladding were used to give a complex yet inspiring look. Additional car parking and gardens were also incorporated within the build timeline adding to the functionality of the centre.
